This one's for you grandma

Hope everyone is doing well 😊

Just wanted to share a simple piece of poetry I wrote in remembrance of vaapamma 😔

Dearest grandma,

You have gone far away,

While we were waiting for summer,

To come visit you and stay.

Draped in your colourful saris,

Everyday,

You always had different stories 

To say.

Be it about fairy tales of the past,

Or today, 

Amusement to the last,

Bit of story you had to convey.

You had a stash of candy,

Hidden and kept away,

To give the lovely children,

Who came to play.

You visited us for 3 months,

Or more so to say,

Enjoyed life with us,

Everyday.

Always busy with smocking,

You had your way,

Outcomes of it shocking,

As it turns out as beautiful as light and day.

You visited each of your children,

If not everyday,

Once in a while,

Cuz it was your duty you say.

You dissolved chaos and trouble, 

That came their way,

And had a du'a,

You would always pray.

Like a teen you would cook,

And cry out in dismay,

When others don't let you into the kitchen,

To do what you may.

At dawn anticipating Fajr,

You would recite and pray,

To the Lord who is Merciful

And loves you in everyway.

You would flash a smile to everyone,

You meet everyday,

Masking your pain so that,

No one sees any day.

You inspire me,

in everyway,

To be a better person,

Forever and till I meet you one day.

So grandma,

For all these I have to say,

May Allah have Mercy on you,

And grant you Jannathul Firdous for eternity to stay.
